The countryside surrounding Le Moulin is rural and unspoilt. Vineyards and olive groves cover the hillsides, and there are spectacular views of the Mediterranean from the hilltops. Olives [click to enlarge]Although completely renovated, Le Moulin still has a broyeur (crusher) which was for the first part of the olive oil-extraction process.
Sadly, the olive press disappeared when the mill closed down following an exceptional winter frost in the 1950s. The frost killed all the branches of the 300-year-old olive trees, but if you look at them now you will see that they have regrown from the old trunks and are producing olives again.An old olive tree [click to enlarge]
